Dear Students & Parents,
2012 is here and marks the 18th anniversary of Gold Country Kuk Sool Won. This could not have happened without you and your support. We have many exciting events planned for the upcoming months so be sure to refer to your calendar of events.
Our annual Christmas party was a huge success; with over 200 in attendance, a great time was had by all.
I would like to congratulate Sandra Mathias on being chosen 2011 Black Belt of the Year by her peers. This is a wonderful honor.
I would also like to congratulate the following students on their promotion to first degree black belt: Damian Sandez, Alexander Dunn, Ella Rohde, Daniel Sneed, David Sneed, Matteo Pierazzi and Mackenzie Enos. Kamryn Wisner was promoted to second degree black belt. These students have worked very hard and persevered to attain this level.
Due to the large Christmas potluck celebration last month, we will have in-class promotions instead of our usual promotion potluck event.
On Sunday, February 5th, the founder of Kuk Sool Won, In Hyuk Suh, will hold his annual seminar. This is a unique opportunity to meet, hear and train with the founder and some of the highest ranking Kuk Sool masters in the world. It will be held at the Wheatland Bear River School gym. There will be two sessions: the first session will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the second session will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. This event is open to all ages and ranks. The same eight area schools that meet quarterly for black belt testing will attend, so space is limited. You are encouraged to sign up early. Carpooling will be available. Ask your instructor for further details.
In 2012, I hope you will set some martial arts goals for yourself. When you write them down and set your intent, you increase your chances of attaining them tenfold. In the words of Kuk Sool's founder, In Hyuk Suh, "With patience and perseverance all things are possible."
Show your school pride with a free Gold Country Kuk Sool window decal. Semi-professional installation from Kwahn Jahng Nim Tony is included.
A note to students and parents regarding snow and inclement weather days. We try to keep the Kuk Sool studio open as much as possible. If public schools in the area are closed due to weather, we will close too. If there is a heavy snow storm on an evening or weekend, we may also need to close. We always try to leave a message on the answering machine whenever this happens.
I hope you and your family have a great 2012!
